Alexa Nolan, MS, MHC-LP
Mental Health Clinician
Alexa Nolan, MS, MHC-LP is a Mental Health Clinician at Doria Therapeutic Group, PLLC, where she provides psychotherapy services to individuals, families, and groups under clinical supervision in New York State. With a strong foundation in trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, Alexa brings over a decade of advocacy experience and advanced clinical training to her therapeutic work.
Alexa earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lehman College (City University of New York), where she was named a Milman Scholar and inducted into the Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society—an honor recognizing academic excellence and a deep commitment to the counseling profession. Her undergraduate degree in Anthropology continues to inform her clinical lens, particularly around identity development, systemic and cultural context, and the lived experiences of diverse communities.
Alexa has completed more than 700 hours of supervised clinical training and uses evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She has received specialized training in Trauma Systems Therapy (TST), Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), preparing her to work effectively with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance-use challenges.
Before entering the clinical field, Alexa spent over ten years as a special-education parent advocate. In that role, she supported families navigating educational systems and advocated for children with ADHD, executive-functioning challenges, sensory-processing differences, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. This experience gave her a deep understanding of systemic barriers and reinforced her dedication to equity, inclusion, and empowerment—values that remain central to her therapeutic approach.
