MiAmor Aguirresaenz is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York. She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from NYU and her Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.), and she is currently a doctoral candidate in School-Clinical Child Psychology (Psy.D.) at Pace University. MiAmor is also a U.S. military veteran, which informs her work with clients who may be seeking a therapist familiar with the experiences of service members and their families. Her professional background includes work in outpatient clinics, schools, and community organizations where she has supported children, adults, and families through a wide range of emotional and life challenges.
MiAmor’s clinical style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, attachment-based approaches, and trauma-informed care, while emphasizing a strength-based and culturally responsive lens that honors each client’s unique story. As a bilingual clinician fluent in Spanish and English, she is committed to making therapy accessible, inclusive, and meaningful across diverse communities.
In addition to her clinical work, MiAmor serves with a local non-profit supporting immigrant and adult learners—a role that enriches her understanding of community needs and deepens her holistic approach to care.
Currently completing her Psy.D. dissertation on the Group Attachment-Based Intervention (GABI), MiAmor is passionate about bridging research with practice and advancing community-focused models of care. Outside of her professional roles, she values cultural traditions, staying active, and time with family, grounding her belief that healing happens not only within individuals, but also within relationships and communities.
