On July 10, 2019, Dr. Doria introduced Vets Treating Vets, Inc. (VTV) a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides a telemental health service exclusively for U.S. veterans by veterans. Vets Treating Vets will deliver mental health services using remote technologies when the patient (the veteran, military, dependent’s, and their families) and the provider (a licensed clinician veteran or a licensed clinician dependent, or a veteran peer) who are separated by distance. This specialized service enables veterans (at an affordable reduced cost) to meet with a provider through live remote clinical videoconferencing. It is a new critical tool to improve veterans’ access to immediate emergency mental health care.
